Yesterday I gave a winding lecture on the compositional process of Angela Gray, and I got so inspired, that I came up with a new idea, which I quickly wrote down, and then moved on to take my music notebook to swimming and worked on neatly transcribing the piano concerto while the children played in the gym. I thought smugly of the parents in the balcony turning their children into princes while I continued to work on myself while my children work on themselves. Then I almost messed up and had my coat, etc. locked in the locker room, I spent so much time in the gym! I’ll have to be more careful. . .
