There was a Levite who had a concubine. The Levite and the concubine went to the concubine’s father’s house. The Levite tried to leave, but the father would not let him. Then the Levite and the concubine went to a city in Benjamin. They stayed with an old man. Then the men of the city told the old man to bring out the Levite. He said no, but they could have the concubine . They ravaged her until she was dead, and in the morning the Levite cut her up into 12 pieces and sent them to the 12 tribes of Isreal.

When the rest of the Isrealites heard about this they decided to attack the Benajmites. First they attacked them 3 times and lost. Then the Lord said He would deliver the Benjamites into their hand. So they fought and killed them all but 600. They said they would not give their women to the Benjamites. They got all the virgins from Jabesh-Giliad. There were 200 Benjamites left. The Isrealites told the rest to get wives from Shiloh.
