Today was a highly scheduled day. The cool thing is that I was the scheduler, not some outside class or something.

First up, we met our friends Carol and Tchad at the park to play tennis. Yanni and Imani played a little tennis on the other court before the sun forced them into the shade. After an hour warm-up, we played doubles. Tchad and Xay won the first game, Carol and I won the second. It was time to go before we settled the match. Next week we’ll see who prevails. So far, Tchad and Xay have won a match, and Carol and Xay won one. I don’t remember winning one yet, so I want it just a little more than everyone else.

Later, we met Martha and Julie and their children at a different park for play time. I had almost left Yanni at home, but I was glad I hadn’t when I saw that Martha had brought Kim. Kim had brought a basketball, too, so Yanni, Xay, Kim and Keith, her little brother, all played basketball. Kim and Yanni played together on the JV (girls) team two years ago, and will likely play together on varsity this year; Keith and Xay will be on the JV (boys) team this year. Julie and Martha also brought scooters, so Esteban and the little girls played on those for a while. Chanya had a very serious look on her face as she navigated the playground. The slides and jungle gym were just her size. We stayed at the park until a potty accident forced us to leave.

After we got home, Kathleen and Avery visited. We hadn’t seen the sweet baby in almost a month. It was so good to catch up with her. I’d hold Avery, and Chanya would climb all up on me to see the baby. At first we thought she was jealous, but it turned out that Chanya was following the baby. If I gave Avery to Yanni and hold Chanya, Chanya would just start trying to climb on Yanni. We had a nice little visit, and I said I’d try to make it to their house tomorrow.
