I know school starting is old news to everyone else, but today was our official first day.

The big kids had class at a tutoring site, and each negotiated their way there. Xay finally got his chance to ride his bike. It’s not that far away, but I was concerned about the busy street. Curtis thought he could give it a try.

The LAST thing Yanni wanted to do was ride her bike. She was not feeling the sweating and the heavy backpack and the. . . NO! So I drove her. I had to meet with Xay’s biology teacher at 8 AM anyway, so I took her.

The only thing was that Yanni had two absent teachers today, and one of them teaches two of her five classes. So, she only had two classes today, and they were every other hour. I wasn’t trying to fragment my day by driving back and forth repeatedly. So she decided to use the study hall to get a jump on her academic year. Xay had four of his five classes today, and he opted to ride home during the one open period. That’s about 30 minutes out of his 90 minute class period, but that was his choice.

Meanwhile, I did school with the babies. We got home at 9 from the 8 AM meeting. We ate breakfast and took a bike ride before doing chores before starting school, around noon.

Even so, we finished school around 2. I’m sure that had to do with the first day lessons mostly being about overviews, and what’s your name?

Bring on day two, I say!
