Curtis was out of town today, and I was talking to him on his way home. Chanya started screaming, and when I picked her up, she stopped crying. Then I could hear Imani weeping in the background. The phone was interrupting Curtis to tell me that someone else was trying to call. I hung up.

Chanya stopped crying. I told Imani she could stop doing school, and we’d pick it up tomorrow. Then I asked her to hold Chanya while I finished folding the clean clothes. I gave her a bottle for Chanya and they were both happy.

Xay was mowing the lawn and Yanni was taking a test. Joy was at gymnastics; Curtis would pick her up on his way home.

Dinner was cooking in the crock pot. I thought I’d throw a half a lime in with the chili for flavor. After Chanya calmed down, I asked Imani to make the cornbread. By then, Yanni was done with her test and offered to make it, but Imani loves cooking as much as her big sister does, and who wants to poke the hornets’ nest?

Days like today used to make me feel like pimple ready to pop. I did feel like crying at one point. But it’s a challenge that stretches me. I like challenges. I also like a good stretch.
