If you’ve been reading my blog, this seems a bit redundant. But I’m counting on your not remembering it as well as I, or something. Plus, I’m making it really easy for you, giving you each month’s highlight in a single word. Maybe a brief description of each word, or why I chose it, too? hmm?
1. January: HONK!
What with all the trips to the theater and the hours logged in there, and all the tears I shed at seeing my oldest kids sing, dance, and act on the stage, I really couldn’t pick anything else to represent January.
2. February: Basketball
This was a tough one. It was hard to pin February down, but I do remember driving all over creation in the snow for basketball. It was scary at times, but worth it. Yanni’s team made it to the State finals, finishing second. That was her second trophy in two years, and she earned a Varsity letter.
3. March: High School Musical 2
If I could have been any more excited than I was in January for HONK!, it had to have been in March when Yanni played Gabriella in High School Musical 2 (HSMII). For those not familiar with HSMII, Gabriella is the girl lead. I was so excited I could spit.
4. April: Piano
If you check out the archives in April, piano dominates. I was really trying to teach the children piano, and I was trying to capture my methods on video. I had a hard time with both. I haven’t given up, though, and I’m starting to see improvement among all the little kids.
5. May: Girls on the Run
I can’t say enough good about this program. Yeah, I thought some of the chants were corny, and I wasn’t too sure about the literature, but the experience of training for the 5 K with Imani and the other mothers, and doing the race with Imani was priceless. And to watch her come out of her shell? Beyond measure.
