I agree. I think you are both spot on with how to hs and deal with a newborn. We have hs for the last 6 years and during that time I have either been pregnant or nursing one or two children. I have seven kids and the last two ages 5 and 3 both nursed for 3 years each. I did not stress about what benchmarks we did not make during that time frame. I made sure their days were rich with experiences and memories. As each child weaned I was excited to find that my lapbooking journey kept my children engaged in the learning process. Besides honing in a few grammar skills and reinforcing some math facts, my children are all at or well above grade level. I guess each family has to discover what will ultimately work for them.

I like this blog Angela. My 8th child is now 2 months old. Having a new baby while homeschooling is not new for me either as my 7th child is only 2 years old. So there are really 2 babies in the house right now. With all of the older children, we have quite a little system going on. We have a scheduled learning day, but things don't always hit the target. I do find that because of this scheduled day, we come pretty close to getting done what we've set out to do. Depending on the number of children in the home, I'd have to say utilize their help when you can with the infant. I'd also say, use the children's lunch time to get the baby squared away midday. Last but not least, get a swing to rock the baby into lah, lah land if you have to. (sleepy, snooze land) (smile)
